HOME
COMPUTER ACCESS (INCLUDING EPR AND HIP)
Log-in to your JHED account at http://jhed.jhmi.edu (use your email id and password). Under the MyApps tab,
click on the VPN Help link. You’ll need
to log-in again at this site. Download
VPN client and install on your computer.
Then go to the JHMCIS website: jhmcis.jhmi.edu. Click on the HIP and EPR links on the
left-hand column and follow the download and installation instructions
there. You’ll need to open the VPN
client before logging onto HIP or EPR.
FESTER
(Files Electronically Stored Temporarily for Exchange and Retrieval)
10 MB of hard drive space allotted to each JHED
user. Allows backup of important files
like signouts, etc. Log-in to your JHED
account at http://jhed.jhmi.edu (use your email id and password). Under the MyApps tab, click the FESTER link.
Fill out the FESTER Registration form using your JHED login and
password.
EPR
You can
access the EPR via Windows EPR or DOS-based HIP -> IBM -> ‘EPR,’ ‘LAB,’
or ‘OO.’ For help, call 955-HELP. For tracking down outside MDs, use the CPD
(central physician directory) feature.
VENUS
Venus provides information regarding the patient’s
inpatient/ outpatient visits and studies.
It is used to determine which service a patient belongs to and for
resident clinic scheduling. To obtain a login and password, contact Scott
Walker.
To utilize Venus…
1. Click
on HIP hosts, then Venus. Type in your login &
password.
2. Choose
Access Production Database, then Enter. “Johns Hopkins – Internal Medicine”
will appear – Press Enter.
3. For
future appointments, choose “10” To
return to main menu, press Enter x2.
4. For
previous visits, choose “12” - History
Report.
5. For
your daily clinic appointment schedule, choose “1” – Staff Appointments
… “MSCEIM Provider/ Resource:” will
appear, type in the first six letters of your last name, then Enter.
Type in the “from/ to” dates and times. Keep pressing Enter until your schedule appears.
6. For
you monthly clinic schedule, choose “4”
– Schedules at a Glance … Type in
the first six letters of your last name as above, then press Enter. Type in “from/ to”dates, then Enter.
To check
which patients have arrived to the clinic, choose “7” – Arrival List
LAB WEB
The
Department of Pathology has a program titled LabWeb which allows you to print
labs for your patient census. To “flow
the labs,” follow the instructions below:
1. Go
to Netscape and type in the address <http://www.pathology.jhu.edu>
2. On
the main menu, select “LabWeb.”
3. On
the USER LOGON page, enter your PDS ID and password. Then click “Logon.”
4. On
the LabWeb Report page, select “Create patient list or add users” to create a
list, select “New,” give your list a name, and choose Sort Order (name, history
number, or location). Note the option
to include other userids on the list (e.g., your fellow resident on service) to
share the same patient list. If you
have already created a patient list, select “Add/Delete Patient to List” on the
menu, then select “Add/Delete Patient to List” at the bottom. Enter the patient’s 7-digit history number
(without check digit) to add; un-check a box to delete. Select “Update Patient List” once completed.
5. To
finally flow and print the labs, select “Patient List Report” at the
bottom. Select “print” and, in the
Format box, choose “1-Medical Rounds - Print.”
Select “Prepare Report” then “Print.”
